Children's Day

In Peru, Children's Day is celebrated every third Sunday of August. On this day of the year, Peruvian children would typically would receive presents from their parents. At St. George’s College it was celebrated on August 22nd. Our kids elaborated beautiful posters, participated in a storytelling and funny games, and also ate pizza and pop-corn. At the end of the day they also did origami butterflies to decorate the posters.

St. George's Day

Legends of St George’s life have grown over the centuries. However, he must have been incredible in his lifetime for his reputation to have survived for so long. The most famous legend of Saint George is of him slaying a dragon. St. George is remembered as being a brave, courageous, chivalrous, honest knight who protected people. There is now a special day in England to remember and honor him called St. George Day. At St. George’s College we also had a great celebration. Early year kids marched wearing dragon faces, shields and crowns. Lower students represented the story. Grade 2 students sang proudly with great enthusiasm the school song.
